Do you remember when the good old days weren't all that old? If you're anything like me, you're probably wondering how the years could have passed by so fast.
"I love everything that's old: old friends, old times, old manners, old books, old wine," says Mr. Hardcastle in Goldsmith's She Stoops to Conquer.
Many people can identify with Mr. Hardcastle, especially those of us who are now considered "Baby Boomers" and reminisce about baby boomer nostalgia -- things the way they used to be before the age of computers, iPods, and the Internet.
Do You Remember When...
- You got Orange Crush® in a brown-glass bottle out of a big cooler filled with water and floating blocks of ice?
- A family picnic meant spreading a blanket at the side of a country road and enjoying homemade sandwiches, icicle pickles, and thick slices of fresh-baked apple pie?
- You got big ice cream cones for 10 cents with real cream and just three flavors to choose from: vanilla, strawberry, and chocolate?
- You wondered where the yellow went when you brushed your teeth with Pepsodent?
- Gasoline was 4¢ a gallon
- Milk was 5¢ a quart
- A can of Cambells Soup cost 10¢
- You got get into the movie, buy a coke and a bag of popcorn for 25¢
